Far from Frozen: AHCA Convention Recap
Through my career at XOS Digital, I have been fortunate enough to attend many tradeshows, conferences and conventions. Last month, I attended the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) convention. If you’ve never been before and you’re involved in hockey, you’re missing out. AHCA knows how to put on a great show.
Spending an entire week at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Course is a welcome change after the grueling months of the hockey season. As one would imagine, this environment also provides a slight reprieve before the many months of preparation for the 2012-2013 run. However, despite surrounding distractions (beach, golf and pool), the AHCA convention was extremely productive for XOS Digital and our XOS Thunder Hockey HD video editing system.
XOS Digital has served as a mainstay at the AHCA show since 2005, and has provided the majority of Division I programs with advanced video editing solutions. Last year, XOS demonstrated XOS Thunder Hockey HD capabilities after several partner teams piloted the product during the previous season. Since then, XOS Thunder Hockey HD took off, with 26 teams upgrading from our legacy VEGA system to use the new high-definition solution.
Due to the market success of XOS Thunder during 2011-12, and because of the growing number of field users, we adjusted our AHCA plan this year to best accommodate both VEGA and XOS Thunder HD users. This year, we demonstrated XOS Thunder to a large group of college hockey programs currently using VEGA and other products, and we also held feedback sessions with those who used XOS Thunder during the season.
The coaches and video coordinators we spoke with provided great feedback, and we appreciated the chance to meet with as many as we did this year. Some of the programs we met with included Michigan, Northeastern, Notre Dame, UMass-Amherst, and Wisconsin. XOS Digital has always built its products based on partner team collaboration, so this feedback is essential to XOS Thunder Hockey’s future evolution. We also appreciate the many partner teams that shared their experiences with those interested in upgrading to XOS Thunder HD.
Overall, we had a successful AHCA show this year and we’re looking forward to next year’s event!
